Pinchito a small, slender, very regal looking and initially very shy young male Podenco hound, we believe Podenco Canario.
With striking Podenco looks, Pinchito could be a Egyptian Pharaoh hound in a frieze on the side of a pyramid. He was found when he was only 3.5 months old, completely emaciated, and obviously has his reasons for being quite timid at first and wanting to hide himself from harm. He has since spent his childhood and adolescence locked up most of the time in a pen, with his 2 companions. He loves a cuddle but you have to catch him first!
In Spain, classic small Podencos like Pinchito are prized by hunters for their incredible speed but often lead lives of appalling cruelty, living their entire lives locked in dark sheds in the middle of nowhere without human company and only let out once a week to hunt, or thrown out, hung or dumped on roadsides when they reach the end of their physical peak… or because hunting season is over for another year.
Pinchito will be a very rewarding pet for someone as once he gets to know you, he loves to be petted and shows his true sparky nature - but it will take him time and understanding to win your trust.
Pinchito is spayed, microchipped, clear of diseases and has a passport. He is in kennels in southern Spain near Granada and can travel to the UK.

Pinchito was lost on the streets of Salobrena, around new-year. At first the girl who advised about him was willing to foster, but as he got caught by her and was afraid, he mouthed and she got scared. So we took him to the shelter. He is still a bit timid around people, but loves all the dogs. He is an explorer, however, so needs to go to a home that is secure and that gives him time to relax...
